Advanced mathematical modeling technology for transmission load flow, unique quality beyond other commercial models

available free to use

ATRAC is a load flow simulation software model specifically designed to analyze very large electric transmission networks, typically 25,000 to 50,000 buses or more. While most commercially available and custom designed load flow models have little difficulty with networks of a few thousand buses up to about 20,000 buses, problems solving larger networks with the same software are not unusual.

ATRAC incorporates state-of-the-art analytical modeling representing the best of established technology plus new techniques not in other commercial models. Special qualities include:

  • powerful solution engine
  • highly dependable convergence characteristics
  • solutions right up to stability limits
  • converging all interchange mismatch to same tolerance as bus mismatch
  • multiple generator dispatch for area interchange control
  • detailed HVDC modeling with capability to readily accommodate new control schemes including interchange control across HVDC lines
  • superior HVDC convergence capability
  • modeling of power marketers
  • capability to track impacts across the network
  • efficient, intelligible source code very easy to modify
  • successful benchmarking against the most popular commercial load flow software models

We are making this technology available to use, at no cost, via our ATRAC 3.6.3 software model. A copy of the executable module can be downloaded free at this site.

full source code and detailed documentation also available

You can also purchase all source code and design documentation to allow you to custom-design additional modeling features, build a specific user interface, or incorporate ATRAC's technology into your existing models, thereby giving you complete independent control over your load flow modeling capability. You also get access to technology that provides you the advantage of understanding the efficient solution of extremely large networks.
